Cute Cats

When looking for cute cats, consider the Australian Mist (formerly known as the Spotted Mist). This breed is rare and beautiful. It appeared in 1976 in Australia by crossing the Abyssinian, Burmese, and local domestic tabby shorthair cats. It’s the first cat breed of Australia. Since the ancestors of the breed are spotted and marbled, the new breed is characterized by spotted or marbled coat with delicately marked spots and stripes. The genetic vigor of local domestic tabbies makes the new breed hardy and healthy.

These cute cats are medium-sized and rounded. There are no extremities in their appearance. The Australian Mist cats have large glossy and expressive eyes, usually green in color. The face of these cats has an open look because of a broad nose, chin and whisker pads. The short coat of the Australian Mist comes in brown, blue, chocolate, lilac, peach, and gold colors with the pattern seen through a misted veil.

Australian Mists are cute cats not only because of their exotic looks, but also because of their innate intelligence and loving personality. Cats and kittens of this breed can make good pets for children of all ages. They are tolerant of handling and even if the child plays rough, they don’t scratch, but go to a secure place. Kittens of the Australian Mist are very playful and lively; mature cats become dignified, but retain their friendly and playful personality.

The life expectancy of these cute cats is about 15-20 years. Australian Mists can be fully indoor pets or can be allowed outside during the daytime. Being very people-oriented, these cats are not inclined to roam and prefer to remain indoors from dusk till dawn. City dwellers that cannot let the cat outdoors can take it for a walk on a lead. Australian Mists are friendly to all humans. They like to be around the family and crawl into the lap of a family member of a guest. The inborn friendliness of the breed makes these cats trust all humans, which may lead to theft or injuries if the cat is allowed outdoors. A small yard is the ideal playground for these cute cats.
